When researchers analysed 89,923 commercial samples across six states, these labels did not predict a plant’s terpene or cannabinoid profile, and a genome-wide study found sativa- and indica-labelled plants to be genetically indistinct (PLOS ONE 2022; Nature Plants 2021). Tirah Maidan Hash Plant – Pakistani Indica Landrace from the Tirah Valley Tirah Maidan Hash Plant is an authentic Pakistani indica landrace originating from the remote Tirah Valley, a mountainous region in today’s Khyber District of Pakistan, near the Afghan border. This area has a centuries-old tradition of small-scale cannabis cultivation and artisanal dry-sift hashish production, making it one of Pakistan’s most historically significant hash-producing regions. Cannabis has been cultivated in the Tirah Valley for over six hundred years. Pashtun tribes—particularly the Afridi—introduced the plant to the region and continuously selected it for resin production. Over generations, this focused selection resulted in plants capable of producing exceptionally oily and sticky resin, traditionally processed into garda, a classic dry-sift hash renowned for its potency and heavy physical effects.
