Tirah Maidan Hash Plant – Pakistani Indica Landrace from the Tirah Valley Tirah Maidan Hash Plant is an authentic Pakistani indica landrace originating from the remote Tirah Valley, a mountainous region in today’s Khyber District of Pakistan, near the Afghan border. This area has a centuries-old tradition of small-scale cannabis cultivation and artisanal dry-sift hashish production, making it one of Pakistan’s most historically significant hash-producing regions. Cannabis has been cultivated in the Tirah Valley for over six hundred years. Pashtun tribes—particularly the Afridi—introduced the plant to the region and continuously selected it for resin production. Over generations, this focused selection resulted in plants capable of producing exceptionally oily and sticky resin, traditionally processed into garda, a classic dry-sift hash renowned for its potency and heavy physical effects. Situated at more than 2,000 meters above sea level, the Tirah Valley lies within a genetic transition zone where cannabis populations begin to express a wide range of traits. As a result, the Tirah Maidan landrace shows remarkable genetic diversity, making it especially attractive to breeders and pheno hunters seeking rare and authentic expressions of traditional indica genetics. The original seeds were collected directly at source in Tirah Maidan (Northern Tirah) by a well-known Pakistani-English strain hunter known as Tokecity and later gifted to our team. The Khalifa Genetics project subsequently carried out a careful reproduction run, producing a second-generation (P2) population. The aim was to improve sexual stability while preserving as much of the original genetic diversity as possible. Hardy, resilient, and well adapted to harsh mountain conditions, Tirah Maidan reflects generations of rain-fed (barani) agriculture.
